Professions

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone.

The profession system is a new addition to Core 3. It brings more non-PvP connent to the game and gives the player something to do apart from raiding and training. It is independent of the player's battle stats and has its own level or, to be more precise, experience system.

Starting at chuunin level, the player can choose from essencially 2 types of profession. They can be the supplier, gathering materials scattered all across the map and beyond it. Or they can become the producer of the final product, goods made from gathered materials. The two types of professions are very different and offer different non-PvP experience.

The focus of this thread is to gather information about those professions, for better understanding of the system. I appreciate everyone taking their time to post any information they've gathered. I would also want this to be a place where we can discuss different aspects of the profession system.

GATHERING

Gathering is essential in the profesion system. Without gatherers, the producers (smiths and cooks) wouldn't be able to get materials needed to craft their goods. Players can find their resources scattered on and beyond the map using the scouting page, which are within a 5 square radius of their current position. Whenever they're at the same location as the resource, they can begin gathering it. Only the first person to finish gathering a resource (which lasts 2 minutes and 30 seconds) gets the raw materials, as for the rest: better luck next time! Only players within a specific profession can see profession-specific resources. This means that for example, a miner will not be able to see animal herds which the hunter hunts for.

After a gatherer gathers their resource, it will appear in the pre-processed tab of their profession interface. Then they will have to stay asleep to be able to process raw materials into a finished product. Gatherers can then sell their product in the Grand Market, found in the Village Hall. All 3 gathering professions offer unique traits and advantages. Here is the detailed overview:

Herbalist

The Herbalist has a professional co-relation with the Chef. They gather raw seeds and herbs and then process them into materials the Chefs can use to cook up their products. Herbalists have their own unique recipes however and thy play a major part in supporting their villagers.

The benefits of being a herbalist are as followed and they grow with profession experience:

- Ramen price discount

- Healing items discount

- Reduced hospital bill cost

They gain experience from craftig their recipes. Only the top 3 recipes give out experience.

COOKING & SMITHING

Cooking and smithing professionals use the resources gotten from the gatherers to manufacture goods. They're completely reliant on the gatherers as they cannot find the ingredience needed for their goods themselves. After creating items, they can sell them on the village market (Grand Market) found in the Town Hall.

Armor Craftsman

This professional is responsible for providing high quality and high durability armour to other players. He relies solely on the Hunter for the leather in the beginning, but starting from jounin-level armour, they will also need metals from Miners. With gained experience, the Craftsman is able to unlock recipies for armour for higher ranks and is the only source of the highest level armour.

Of course, players can buy cheap armour from the item shop, however, the crafted armour has two advantages: much better durability and being repairable. Yes, the Craftsman can also repair armour which has been submitted for repair in the Item Repair tab.

The leather, traded from the Hunter, can be used in the pre-processed state, but more often than not, the Craftsman will have to process the leather himself into a more intricate ingredient.

Advantages of being an Armour Craftsman:

-discount on armour

-the ability to repair crafted armour

They gain experience from craftig their recipes. Only the top 3 recipes give out experience.

(?exp?) Dried meat (item) 10min craft - 2 Lvl 1 Meat (Hunter), 1 Goma (herbalist), 1 Salt (heals about 9k hp, useable in battle, can be sold)

(50 exp?) Soothing Porridge (special) 15min craft - 1 Goma (herbalist), 2 Milk, 1 Wheat Flour (heals something over 5k hp, cannot be used in batle, can be sold)

(50 exp?) Pepper bomb (item) 15min craft - 1 Lvl 1 Meat (High Quality)(hunter), 1 White Pepper Powder (herbalist), 1 Black Pepper Powder (herbalist) - I did not have chance to try this one out... no high quality meat

Chefs have the ability to bring Ramen to the Ramen shop, the shop gets a counter for this. Each time the Counter reaches a number equal to the Total village members, the cost for ramen is reduced by 50% for 48 hours. Current supply: 18

Insofar I came up with a few questions regarding all above professions.

hunter/miner/herbalist can trade their materials in the market.

can a chef/weaponsmith trade their food/weapons the same way? (am an armour crafter, can't seem to be able to put my armour on the market)

If everyone can trade their products, the gathering and the smithing (weapon and armour) professions may lead to a considerable ryo income. The chefs, however, lack the demand for their products as players can heal themselves with ramen already. The only real profit for them would be the food useable in battle, but is it worth paying for a 9khp heal with 1 lost turn?

Low level recipes are borderline useless. Chef can make items that are non-combat consumable, taking away the need to run back to your village after taking minor damage.

Low level gear like the Simple armor is untradeable simply because, well, it's rather useless. Chefs might make less money in sales, but their recipes save a lot of money and time. They also have reduced ramen prices and have a village wide-effect in the form of ramen-cost reduction items.

Mine Copper Ore

Refine Copper Bars from Copper Ore

Chef can only sell his goods in Global market not the Grand market like Hunter/herbalist/miner. I assume it is the same for smith and AC. Some items are unsellable though (ramen for ramen shop and the low lvl cabbage stew).

So the Basic ration heals at a percentage which appears to be .03% of your total HP

So you can update that~

Pana-edit: Pretty sure you mean 3%. If not, you've got a bug to report. Heal percentages are never in the digits on items.

xD Yep. I meant 3% I still ahd some other math in my head and typed .03

New recipe at lvl 80

Hemp Ramen (reduction) - 2 Wheat Flour, 2 Bottled Water, 2 Lvl 2 Meat (High Quality), 2 Hemp seeds

This sucks -_- I hate being a chef

With 58243.6 HP Basic ration heals this much:

You have used the item: Basic Ration

You have been healed for 1747.308 HP points

Which is 3% of my total HP.... I do not like saying this but Pana is right. -_- Donnie Pants, you got the wrong number. D=

EDIT: Also Soothing porridge might be healing 9% of total HP and Cabbage stew heals 500 HP not 150. >_>

I have noticed the professions are being reworked. If you notice any changes, please let me know.

I've changed the layout of the OP a little bit. But to make it consistent, perhaps I can ask everyone to submit the details of the items, more like I've done with Armour Crafting. It's mostly for recipes tho, not needed much for gathering (apart from herbalist recipes).

Sorry, kinda new here, but here it goes. I have the savage hurricane bloodline, that focuses on weapon jutsu, whats the best profession to choose. I would like weapon smith, but that trains intelligence. I believe the miner trains speed and speed is for weapon specialist, which one should I choose. Please and Thank you.

You are confusing Professions with Occupations. Please refer to the manual on the differences. This thread is for info on professions and professions only.

Herbalist:

I might be wrong, but I think I got white/black pepper herb fields in lv.10, at least I didn't see any in 8.5

And Mandarin is surely found in 15. Also, both Bringback Powder/Knockout Powder crafts are in lv.10.

So has anyone else been playing around with the reduced AI encounter on the crafted armors? It doesn't seem like its there or maybe its like a small percent reduction? I still encounter about as much AI as I would without the armor on. Is this new effect applied to the existing armors are only the ones crafted after the update?
