[Konoki] Li Zhang [Academy Student]

Recommended Posts

Name: Li Zhang

Age: 14

Gender: Male

Height: 4'7"

Weight: 87 lbs

Appearance: A small brown-haired boy of fourteen, Li still has all the appearance of a child. Having yet to truly hit a growth spurt, he remains small and unimposing, instead maintaining the innocent appeal of a pre-adolescent. He is possessed of hazel eyes and dark brown hair, and his skin is tanned from a childhood spent in the sun. His clothing is plain, typically consisting of skin-hugging pants and shirts to allow for free movement, and a small pouch on his belt to hold whatever sidearms he requires. His bo-staff travels with him at all times, and is his weapon of choice. Open-toe shoes are his preference.

Rank: Academy Student

Village: Konoki

Language: Common (Konoi accent), Konoi

Main/Favored Weapon: Oaken Bo-staff, 5 feet long

Side Arms: Kunai x10, 50 feet of bandages, 1 Blood Pill, 1 Water Pill, 1 Food Pill

Element: Mokuton

Fighting Type: N/A

Specializations:

- Herbalism: Li knows all manner of plants and flora, and knows which is helpful and which is harmful. He knows what environments foster which plants, and continues to study local flora and fauna to become even more well versed.

Strengths:

- Memory: Li can remember most things he sees. While he certainly does not possess a photographic, perfect memory, if something gains his devoted attention for any amount of time, he is likely to be able to recall most significant facts about the object of his attention. His memory is particularly keen when it comes to a person's name and face, and names and appearances of things in general.

Jutsu:

-Bunshin no Jutsu [Clone Technique]

-Henge no Jutsu [Transformation Technique]

-Kawarimi no Jutsu [body Switch Technique]

-Kusai [stinking]

-Mokuton: Foresuto Kaori [Wood Release: Forest Smell]

Background: Li was born to a family of peasants in Konoki. His father, Jin, and his mother, Karlia, were very supportive of Li's ventures into the world, and though they could not provide a wealthy childhood, Li never knew if they were "poor". His parents were bakers, creating all sorts of tasty treats for those with money to spare, and Li's birthdays always had the best cakes. Of course, bakers did not fall into the wealthy class. Rather, he enjoyed a comfortable and happy childhood, bereft of many of the comforts and pleasantries of the working class, but at the same time never going hungry.

As he grew, his interests wandered to the outside world. Li had begun expressing his interest in plants and fauna at an early age, as his constant picking of whatever new flower he could find caused the local flower shop no end of frustration. He eventually was hired on at the flower shop as a helper, with his parents' permission, and earned a small weekly wage for doing basic work, such as watering the flowers and cleaning the floors. It was cheap labor for the flower shop owner, and it allowed Li to be around the plants he loved.

When Li became old enough, he began some modest schooling at his parents' insistence, and he became literate and capable of doing basic mathematics. With these skills, he quickly began learning about as many plants from as many different places as he could. His knowledge soon grew impressive, impressive enough that he was allowed into the Shinobi Academy. While his skillset was far from the usual shinobi fare, he proved well enough that he could be of use when he quickly picked up the basic training lessons taught at the academy. His early years of manual labor at the flower shop paid off, as he was able to keep up with his classmates, though perhaps not excelling in any particular area.

Here, his history ends and his story begins. He still trains to become better, and his unusual fascination with herbs continues to befuddle anyone who meets him. But his skill is evident enough, and someday he may yet become an impressive ninja.

Sample Post: Li was walking home from the flower shop after a long day of work. It had been one of those days where everything that he had to do involved heavy lifting. All the old flowers needed to be replaced, which meant hours of lifting bags of sod and rich soil, tearing them open, and scooping that soil into little pots. The repetition was mind-numbing, but his back was anything but. A dull ache had crept into the bottom of his spine from the constant bending. The florist had warned him to lift with his legs, but that didn't seem very efficient to Li. He worked faster bending from his back, and the florist seemed to conveniently forget his advice when speed was involved.

The going was slow as Li struggled forward, his back throbbing endlessly as he placed one foot in front of the other. In a way, though, it gave Li time to observe the world around him. He saw berry bushes and plants in pots in windows, mold growing on the side of trees... many different things. Li was beginning to understand the interaction of plants with each other, with animals, with humans, with near anything. His knowledge was impressive, even at the young age of seven. It was that knowledge that became useful on this day for the first time.

The neighbors had a dog. German shepherd, a beautiful creature, with brown fur and black patches, and deep brown eyes that seemed to bore into you. Li had loved it from far away, but the dog was quickly growing into an adult, and adult dogs were a bit frightening to a small child like him. But the dog was still a puppy full of licks and love and playfulness, so Li had no fear of him.

What he did have a fear of was the berries the dog seemed to be getting into while the neighbors weren't looking. The dog had been let outside to do his business, and the adults were busy tending to the children, who were doubtless causing more trouble than the dog. But the berries were toxic, and the young puppy would feel their effects more than most. So Li did the only thing he could think to do. He went and grabbed the puppy, carrying him awkwardly as his back complained all the louder. When the neighbors opened the door to let the young pup back inside, they saw Li shambling towards the house.

"Oy, Li, just what're you doin?"

Li looked up, nodded his head awkwardly at the bush, and explained the berries and their toxic properties. The owners slowly understood what Li was getting at, and then very quickly took their dog. A day later, the dog was in the vet, with his stomach being emptied in all manner of unpleasant ways by the doctor. But Li had saved the dog, and thus earned the respect of the three and four year old children of the neighbors.

It was a small thing. But it made Li realize that his studies had given him a useful tool. A tool he could use to help himself and those around him. Mostly, though, it made Li feel like the hero, which his child mind enjoyed to the fullest.

I don't see anything wrong with this aside from a few nit picks.

Well done.

I would suggest you add on some additional side arms however, like bombs and pills and what not, but its up to you.

Nice~

The only thing that stops me from stamping this is a small contradiction in the appearance. You start by saying he is black haired, but later say he possess dark brown hair.

Ha. Well that is a bit embarrassing. It should be fixed now.

I also added 3 pills to my sidearms, per Hironidin's suggestion.

*Half Stamp*

With your unlisted general traits being weaknesses by a very slight amount. These are things like strength, speed, agility, etc.

Have fun RPing and welcome to Seichi. Don't forget to post in the Population Thread
