Clan Name: Lune
Village: Nagare
Main Element: Water
Head Leader:
- Ami Lune : NPC (deceased)
- Ikeda Yukari (http://www.theninja-forum.com/Vbulletin/showthread.php?p=209263#post209263): next-in-line
- Council of Five: NPCs – clan leaders until Yukari turns sixteen
Type: Ninjutsu
Symbol:

- The moon as it is being eclipsed. All clan members who have come of age (sixteen) are given their own seals (stamps), with the Kanji of their first name in the middle of the white circle. The customized seals are used for identification and are not revealed in public.
Style:
The men are obligated to be trained as shinobi that specialize in concealment and stealth. They are usually calm, preferring to strike from afar but only when absolutely needed. They serve Nagare only if the Lune Clan as a whole agrees to it, which is usually when it is in their clan’s best interest and if there is a possibility of gaining profit. Some of the women who pursue a life as shinobi, instead of running the clan, are trained as medics and go to the battlefield as backup. Overall, they prefer long-ranged fighting rather than hand-to-hand combat, and jutsus over weapons unless the weapons are ranged as well.
Social Standing:
A small yet wealthy clan that has networks in other villages. They have earned some respect by keeping their doors open to the less fortunate members of society, especially during times of war.
# of RPC Members Allowed: Unlimited
- Conditions in joining: Preferably male if you are combat-based, and female if you want to be a medic someday. The RPC must be fiercely loyal to the clan, even if they become missing-nin.
Description:
The primary goal of the Lune Clan is to establish a reliable network between villages. They believe that communication leads to understanding, and that it would prevent future wars. Their secondary goal is to gain profit from their businesses, using the information that they gather from the networks. This is to ensure the survival of future generations. Members of the clan will fiercely protect each other, as they firmly believe that “Blood is thicker than water”.
Background:
The first leader of the clan was Nemu. She was a slave who was raised by prison guards of a certain village, often rented out for prostitution to anyone who took interest in her. The guards never regarded her as family and only saw her as a source of income. This led Nemu to believe that money is the only thing that matters in the world and that if she had enough of it, the suffering would end. When she turned fifteen, Nemu stowed away on a ship and landed on Nagare. She roamed the streets for days and eventually found a job as an informant. Her looks were deceiving, so innocent and harmless, thus a certain group of shinobi hired her as their information-gatherer. In them, Nemu saw a close bond; though she was left out because of her unknown origin, she appreciated the brotherhood that the men had for each other, and the respect that they gave her. Nemu’s faith in kindness and love was never lost; it was merely hiding within the depths of her heart, and was awakened by what she witnessed. Then a war broke out. To her dismay, a piece of information which she gave to the group leaked out and they were ambushed on their way to carry out a mission. They came back cold and lifeless, thus paving the way for Nemu’s resolve. She wanted a family, one that was close-knit and loyal; she still factored in money, of course, as she wanted to provide a stable lifestyle for her family.
“Lune” translates to “moon”. When Nemu was a slave, she would look up at the sky and let the moonlight shine upon her. It brought her calmness and comfort, thus she adapted the word Lune, pronounced as "lu-ne", as her last name when she became a recognized member of society.
The clan consists mostly of businessmen, medics and informants. Due to a large number of the clan being medics, most children are born with a high chakra pool and above-average chakra control. They are also trained early in their childhood in the art of concealment and stealth. The children inherit the calculating nature of their elders.
The Lune Clan is a matriarchal system. All females are given privileges such as deciding who to send out to each village and they could also choose who they wanted to marry. Women are not forced to marry within their clan, but the men are. Also, the female members are not trained for combat, but focused more on business, running the clan and medical training; the men were obligated to become shinobi and fight if needed. The clan is always headed by a direct descendant of Nemu, specifically, the eldest daughter of that generation. If no daughter is born in that generation, the eldest son is chosen.
Ami was the clan head of the Lune before and during the last war. She was married to Ikeda Shin, but had to leave him due to conflict between his work as a Hyougan jounin and the Lune’s neutrality. She once lived in Hyouga, yet returned to Nagare when her daughter turned two years old. Ami agreed to leave her daughter with Shin on the condition that once the girl turned sixteen years of age; she would be presented to the Lune Clan in Nagare as their next clan leader. Ami Lune is a direct descendant of Nemu, with all her ancestors belonging in the same clan. On her way to Hyouga to visit her daughter during the war, as she was informed that the girl was left in the Ryuuzaki mansion due to both her real father and adoptive father being caught as prisoners of war, a violent snowstorm destroyed their caravan and there were no survivors. Ami’s body was transported back to Nagare and buried in the Lune Clan’s mausoleum.
Lune-Ikeda, Yukari : The only child of Ami Lune and Ikeda Shin. She grew up traveling with her father, and later on was adopted by Ryuuzaki Shun, her father’s best friend. Her mother left her when she was two years old and she harbored a little bitterness over that. Unknown to her, Ami died when Yukari was fifteen years old, around the time that she became a Genin. Yukari is the next clan head of the Lune, a fact also unknown to her. Information from Hyouga has reached the elders of the clan: the Council of Five, and they are worried about her possibly volatile nature. The clan is led by the Council until Yukari turns sixteen years of age.
The Council of Five consists of men and women. Two of them are Ami’s brothers, one older than her and the other her twin. The other three are elder women who are Ami’s cousins.
>> Clans and Organizations that the Lune Clan does business with:
- Itahase Clan (http://www.theninja-forum.com/Vbulletin/showthread.php?t=5090)
The Itahase clan is by far, the most well known clan of Rikuhi. Their roots date back to the times of the anicent Horizon village, and their name is well known among the older clans in every one of the ninja villages. In recent times however, the Itahase clan is looked upon as a pillar of support for the village of Rikuhi; the Itahase family runs 80% of all farms in the Rikuhi region and is the largest provider of food in Rikuhi; you can look in almost any refrigerator in Rikuhi homes and find the clan symbol on many of the food products. This is especially important since Rikuhi is surrounded by desert. The clan has larned how to cultivate the land, with a combination of common farming lore and ancient ninjutsu. The clan has survived through the ages, and still practices some of the ancient ways, including Bushido, flower arranging, caligraphy, etc. The clan is huge, however only the upper branches of the family are allowed to become ninja; the rest live in Rikuhi, working on the farms and keeping the population of the region fed.
Special Attributes:
Since they specialize in gathering information and establishing businesses, members of the clan are usually creative, intelligent and calculating. They are also shrewd, able to find a way to bend the truth if pressed for information that they should not disclose. They are very sociable, able to sway people into being their allies or at least side with them for a time. Members of the clan are also very manipulative when they need something in particular; however, they will not manipulate members of their clan. Their founder, Nemu, was said to have a bloodline.
Strengths:
- Good chakra control
- Large chakra pool
- Trained in stealth and concealment
- Has little to no conflict at all with fellow clan members
- Neutrality: Few people in other villages have a reason to despise the clan since the Lune remains neutral.
- Business-minded and creative: Their businesses mostly concern weapon creation (blacksmiths), transporting people, delivering messages and items, hunting for rare artifacts and animals, and establishing extravagant hotels in every village.
- Extremely wealthy
Shortcomings:
- Passive/defensive nature when it comes to combat: A shinobi of the Lune Clan will prefer not to fight at all even when provoked, unless the opponent attacks him or another clan member directly.
- Little training in advanced hand-to-hand combat: They can block normal attacks, but will usually be clueless against advanced Taijutsu.
- Low upper body strength: As they are not trained much in hand-to-hand combat and prefer using jutsus instead, clan members generally have low upper body strength. This is a negative trait that has worsened with each generation, and may continue in this path because the members usually intermarry within the clan.
- Extremely protective of fellow clan members: They will throw all logic and caution out the door if a scenario involves a fellow clan member. They will always side with each other.
- Neutrality: Conflict may arise between their allies as they vie for the support of the Lune.
- Appears to be elitist: Their clan pride leads fellow Nagareans to take advantage of their kindness during wars and tragedies while talking behind their back.
- Profit over relationships: Its allies use the Lune clan, and the Lune clan uses its allies. Their relationships serve nothing but their own purposes, and amount only to business transactions.
- Sensitive eyes: A birth defect that Nemu passed on to her daughters. Any female directly descended from her will be born with eyes that are sensitive to bright light, and it may lead to blindness if not diagnosed before the age of 20. It is troublesome since the clan’s shinobi prefer long-range combat. This weakness is rumored to be tied to Nemu’s bloodline.
- Sensitive skin: Rashes appear all over their arms and neck if they are exposed to hot, dry weather for a prolonged period. It causes extreme discomfort and may become wounds if the rashes are not treated with cold cream. Clan members that are sent to Rikuhi as informants are given special apartments that have a humidifier and they also have a large quantity of cold creams and moisturizing lotion. Shinobi are rarely sent to Rikuhi.
- Limited population: The clan wants to keep their close ties, thus married couples are allowed to have only two children. Their number grew around Nemu’s time, but lessened over the years, especially during the times that wars broke out. Members of the Lune Clan also never adopt anyone who is not related to them by blood in some way.
