IC:

Gai and his new apprentice landed outside of an enormous castle (http://www.airport-pickups-london.com/images/Dover_castle.jpg), one which once belonged to Bruce Wayne, a powerful Daimyo. However, Gai had assassinated Wayne a long time ago, and used henge and voice manipulation to impersonate him.

After that, it had all been a simple matter of slow but sure human resources management. He slowly let go one of wayne's old employees at a time, replacing them with employees of his own. The manor had lots of civilians running it, in addition to a staff of shinobi guards loyal to Gai. This was before the men he'd freed from the prison even came into the equation- they were also essentially guards for the castle at the moment, and had been working on their own to collect groups of bandits and such to the cause while Gai was away.

Gai walked right through the front door of the palace, leading his apprentice down up to his quarters.. Welcome to my palace Gai said as they ascended the stairs, We'll be continuing your training after your ankle has had time to heal. I have a medical shinobi on staff who should be able to accelerate the process.

He flew over the sky, holding Gai's hand. He felt like a bird doing this. But a bird had no restraints, follower to none but the wind.

"I don't want to do what Simon says. I want to do what I want to do." He said to his teacher. "Either play this, or stand in the corner."

Over the coming months he could have painted every crack in that corner flawlessly, every shade and every chip. Holding Gai's hand as he led him through the air stirred up these feelings of resentment, and deep anger of following orders. Time to stretch his wings and fly like bird. Be free.

He wrenched his hand out of Gai's, plummeting toward the earth from more than 30 feet. He hit that ground rolling, being the human cannonball he was. He cracked his neck warily as he stood up, his knee screaming once more. Stfu, you n00b. He unsealed a few strips of his bandages and wrapped them around the knee, swallow a pain pill soon after. The pain dulled after a few minutes, but it still hurt.

Gritting his teeth, he followed Gai. "No. I want this to be a reminder of how we first met."

Fine, have it your way, you won't really need to stand for this next exercise, anyway Gai said. They would drop off Retsu's things in his quarters, and then Gai would lead him down into the dungeon. He had already made arrangements with Goro.

Goro of the shadow waited in the dungeon, where Gai had asked him to help in Retsu's Kai training. This is Goro of the Shadow Gai said to Retsu, One of the followers of our cause. He's agreed to help me teach you in the art of breaking genjutsu.

Gai made the seal for Kai, and then said, You perform this handseal, sending chakra to your mind. When you yell "Kai!" you must alow the chakra to violently disperse from your mind- this allows you to disrupt the genjutsu. The trick is you must use as much chakra as the caster of the genjutsu used to create the genjutsu in the first place. It should also be noted higher ranked techniques can't be broken.

Gai looked to Goro, who signalled he was ready. The other missing nin made the needed handseals, using Chien Shikaku [Delayed Sight] on Retsu. Retsu would notice the room seem to slow down around him, so he couldn't see quite right. He would need to try breaking the genjutsu to see correctly again.

Day 1
------

He walked and followed, bowing slightly to 'Goro of the Shadow'. The room around him slowed, as his vision was changed abruptly by the genjutsu. It was as if the world has slowed down around him, stuck in jello, stuck in his suspended state. He made the seal for Kai, and submerged himself in his own chakra. He wouldn't be trying to disrupt it just yet. First, he had to actually determine wth was the state of the chakra in his mind. Was it completely stable, his chakra lurking in there hidden from site, or was everything in chaos?

He searched his mind, and saw a wonderful site. Well, not wonderful for him at least. The area was in complete and utter disarray, as if some two year had decided to play conductor or whatever with the stops and the rails. Certain lanes were moving the way they were supposed to, moving from their designated starts and stops, like natural. But then, others were completely effed up. Some were completely blocked, backing up on each other, some running in to each other, some even getting tangled up. Sort of like the sewer system when a fat man took a dump after chili dinner. That was the state of his mind right now.

He let loose a helping hand in there, setting a few pathways straight, hoping the others would straighter themselves out, making a handseal to help him out with this process. His sight cleared and he grinned in success, laughing happily, before he almost screamed in frustration. The genjutsu had messed up his pathways again, setting in and taking effect once more. This one was going to be a real hassle. Not going to be as easy as Suimen and Kinobori. Maybe he could do those again and skip this?

Taking another surgical insight into his own working, he looked in his mind once more. The Genjutsu hadn't only established itself once more, it made things worse.

Remember you have to Gauge the amount of chakra you need Goro said to the boy as Gai slinked off. Gardener had an investigation to conduct, he would most certainly be back before Retsu had completed his Kai training.

Goro, on the other hand, would remain. He moved his arms in circular motions to illustrate to the young genin that time was in fact slowing down.

Day 2
------

He put aside the status of his brain for now, and delved deeper into his body, checking on their systems randomly, but with a speed that would most certainly let him check over everything perfectly, not allowing a single thing to miss by him. All was fine, except his eyes. Something was wrong with the signals being sent between them and his brain. The electrical impulses on the optic nerve seemed slower, as if something was clogging it up. In his slightly inattentive side, he marveled at how complex the system of chakra was. Yet only the person themselves could examine it this closely.

As he identified the obstruction, he find a few curiosities on the nerve. A few blockades of that Goro's chakra were here, as well as his own chakra fighting violently to overcome it, yet the disruption was enough to slow down the impulses. He slowly prodded the blockades or barricades or whatever they were with a mental probe, and watched as these things skirted around daintily before resuming their previous duties. It was as if Goro things chakra had a mind of it's own when it left his body, and assumed another host. Such a wonderful system, the chakra system was. Time to try out a little experiment, see if chakra acted a bit like blood.

He sent out his own charka spike, and blinked ferociously as it impaled a bit of his own chakra, but mostly Shadow-thingehs~ The blockade he aimed at disappeared for a moment, until the others suddenly stretched, and made a new one. Genjutsu were self repairing huh? Watching the now broken blockades, he saw that they absorbed his own chakra, to fix themselves. Those thieving little bastards. Well, he'd get back at them soon. He launched a mental spike, yet he couldn't do this fast enough.

Remembering the process, he started the handseal for Kai.

"Get ready...."

Raphael

You're the one that needs to get ready, little boy Goro said as he continued to wave his arms. It was very unlikely that Retsu would successfully break the genjutsu on the first try, though a decent amoubt of his chakra would be burned through as a result. Goro had started with a B rank after all, a cruel and advanced technique to start training with.

On the bright side, Retsu would be well equipped to use Kai by the time he was done.

Day 3
------

He threw an angry look at the annoying little man. He made the handseal for Kai, and steadied himself, mentally as well as physically. He sent out a few mental spikes, expending about as much chakra as he did for a Shunshin. He snarled as nothing happened. Not deterred, he did it again, giving out a shout of joy, believing he had succeeded on the second try. Seems he had gotten the hang of basics in less than three days. Ha, a prodigy he was. Well, at least above average.

He almost broke the nearest piece of furniture, before it started up again. Seems that Goro had just stopped waving his hands momentarily. And no motion for this genjutsu, means no effect. And everything was still. Yet everything moved at a slightly more realistic speed, as if he had hindered its affects. He checked in on his chakra system, and saw a rejuvenating sight. The genjutsu was damaged, but was healing itself faster than he could damage, at least at the level of chakra that he was giving out. Readying another handseal for this annoying basic jutsu, which sadly was mandatory for learning, he charged up his chakra, more than five times his last attempt.

He launched this barrage of this volatile substance that each body made, and speared every single blockade he could find, and fixed a few of his screwed up connections. He saw that the blockades were forming, a few last remnants left, and opened his flood gate, letting more chakra of his enter his mind, and destroy the last little tiny pieces. He finally got to fixing up his pathways. He stopped once his body was fixed enough to take up it's own job and start repairing itself. He smiled, and it left. Yet he could feel a nagging feeling that a tiny remnant of the genjutsu was there, yet he could find it.

And he had forgotten something else.

Goro dropped the genjutsu as Gai entered the room. He needs a break Gai said as the man dropped the genjutsu, His chakra can't handle another attempt on a jutsu that powerful.

Goro nodded and left the room for the time being, while Gai threw his apprentice a water bottle. Don't you die on me now kid Gai said. He was expecting a second student to arrive shortly, but she hadn't come just yet.

We're going to take a short break, and then We're going to have you try this again. I'm going to be training a second apprentice while we're at this, but between me and goro, that shouldn't even be an issue.

OOC: Twas invited by Raph.

IC: Yoruko walked confidently past the massive outer wall and past the guards as well, not even bothering to slow down as she simply held out her invitation from a "friend". They gave her incredulous looks of disdain, wondering exactly who this girl thought she was, but knew that the letter meant she was supposed to be here. They tried going about their daily business...but it was difficult with a presence like that one here now.

She seemed...flamboyant. As if she were screaming to the world to look at her. Certainly her hair was. Today, it was silver and long, almost knee-length, and seemed to fly behind her as she walked, so brisk was her pace.

As she found her way to the front door of the castle, she opened it as if she owned the place. She almost immediately began making demands, ordering the civilians to show her to the owner of the castle and the sender of her invitation. They were not impressed by her, but nonetheless, they had a duty to their master. After learning that her target was in the dungeon, Yoruko wandered around the castle for a bit until finally finding the stairs leading down to the place. When she arrived, she would find three individuals, one younger than the others, in the somewhat frightening interior of the dungeon.

"I'm Kamikana Yoruko...one of you invited me here for something?"

Day 4
-----

He watched Goro, and saw him slowly tiring. Don't die on me now.

He almost smirked, but was interrupted. A sudden migraine in his head popped up, and he checked in, making sure his chakra pathways weren't interrupting his natural pathways of blood or something. No. It was his own chakra. He had forgotten to stop the gate had opened, and now, it was ripping him apart. He rushed to close it, but it was too late, and he was going to pay for it. He was going to break some bones.

Screams penetrated the air, as a chunk of skin blew out and hit the wall, blood leaking from his arm. Blood started rushing to his face, his cheeks, forehead, and every other part suddenly turning red. His pathways were messed up now, and going haywire, completely. Somewhere deep down, he knew he had to ignore this extreme pain and concentrate on the matter at hand. He shut off the gate, yet the pain continued. He snarled, his own way of getting his mind off. The chakra pool in his brain was too much still, too much had flown in.

Blood burst through his skin and spattered the walls.

Too much chakra in his brain right now. He had to get rid of it. He had no jutsu substantial enough to get rid of that chakra now, and he was too out of his to grab his weapons and use them. Time to get painful. Making handseals for shunshin, he skimmed a bit, trying to make the weakest one yet, most likely the weakest in the history in Seichi.

He rammed into the wall, not once, not twice, but three times.

In effect, he broke bones each time. His arm broke as well as his wrist. Two ribs broke, other fractured. His shoulder dislocated, and his other wrist broke.

It was all he could do to beg.

"Get...a...med-nin. NOW!"

Yoruko watched as the boy seemed to be trying to kill himself. Well, she wasn't one to stop anything like that, but if he was going to be loud and carry on, she could at least shut him up for a bit.

Yoruko flipped through a series of handseals, preparing to cast a genjutsu that, if it worked the way she was hoping it might, could possibly alleviate quite a bit of the boy's pain, if not all of it. Sa Ato Nozomi.

The boy would instantly experience what could only be described as his most cherished desire, and his deepest, darkest dream. Provided it was the right kind of dream, he may very well have forgotten the pain he was in. Unfortunately, Yoruko would have no control over that. The dream was entirely belonging to the victim of the genjutsu-Yoruko herself couldn't even see what he would experience. The most she was hoping for, however, was for him to shut his mouth a bit. Quite annoying, that one. He better not be doing that stuff the entire time, or I may have to seek more permanent measures.

Gai saw that his second appointment for the day had walked through the door. Keep him alive for a second, will you? the missing nin said, before bolting with lightning speed out the door. He almost instantly returned with one of manor's medical staff, whom was very confused why they'd been whisked away so quickly.

While Retsu was distracted by whatever fantasy he was having, the medical nin would use that healing hand technique thingy to stabilize him. Gai quickly made a bed for Retsu to be laid on while he rested. Once the boy was stable, Gai would say I told you not to die on me! to his apprentice, a warm smile on his face.

Then, once he was sure Retsu was okay, he would turn to Yoruko and say, You must be the girl Jarvis told me about, the one who tied for the championship in the world tournament. He had an impression you were the kind of student I'd be interested in.

He approached the girl and stood over her, before asking, So, Yoruko: What lurks deep in your heart? Is it a clouding darkness, such as the one that haunts me? He looked into the girl's eyes and could see it was so. There was some form of mania there, something that wasn't just right. It was as if Gai was looking into a more feminine reflection of himself.

There's much work to be done.

Yoruko shook her head and gave a slight chuckle as the boy was tended to. He seemed to be the dramatic sort. She'd have to be the one to bring the tone of the place down a bit, it seemed.

It wasn't long before the man who invited her here addressed her. Apparently, he wanted to train Yoruko or something of that sort. Well, she wouldn't stop him. As for his questions of what lurked in her heart...well...

"I'm not sure what you mean by a cloud of darkness, or whatever...I just like to do what I do." Granted, that usually involves a fair share of pain for whoever so happens to be unlucky enough to be the victim, but still. "If by "student", you mean you can make me better at what it is I do, then go right ahead."

Yoruko giggled and walked past her apparently new sensei, her hair once again taking to the air above her, as if it were no heavier than silk. Even in the dim light down here, it seemed to shimmer-she really liked this particular color. She'd have to remember this hair style for later. It was a very good one for elegant to-dos and things of that nature.

"If there's work to be done...we should probably get started, no?"

Raphael
05-10-2009, 21:36
Yes, we should Gai said. And when he's up to it, would you mind throwing a genjutsu at him? Someone hasn't learned to release those pesky things yet...

That being said, Gai approached the dungeon wall. The dungeon was about twenty feet high, nothing to worry about. But it was high enough for the purposes of this exercise. After making the proper handseals he began, making the handseals he spoke of, Send chakra to your feet. You want to use that chakra to adhere to the wall. Eventually, you won't need the bloody handseals.

Gai had listened to Yoruko's words, and was already aware she could be trouble. But, trouble was something he was equipped to deal with. If there was ever a teacher who understood the depths of insanity, it would be Gai Gardener.

What exactly is it you do, then, Yoruko? he would ask as she climbed.

Day 1

Yoruko walked over to the wall Gai now stood on and glanced up at it. It seemed sturdy enough. And it was holding him up as well. So, it shouldn't have any trouble with her.

Her hands formed the seals she just saw her new sensei form and she took a first tentative step up the wall. She almost forgot, in her haste, that she needed to flow chakra to her foot for it to work-she quickly rushed some chakra there only a few seconds before her foot would connect. She instantly felt what seemed to be a magnet-like effect, and her foot seemed to attract itself to the wall. Well...that was easy enough.

Feeling confident, the Konoi girl lifted her other foot, and took another step up the wall-at least, she tried to. The instant she lifted her grounded foot, the other one started to slide down the wall, not extremely quickly, but quickly enough to show Yoruko that she wasn't quite ready to be walking up any walls quite yet.

Immediately, the girl put her ground-bound foot back down and removed her other foot from the wall. This would require a bit more tact on her part. She shook her head and pulled her hair back. Using a few dozen strands of her own hair, Yoruko created a makeshift hair-tie around her ponytail, keeping her excessively long hair out of the way. She could worry about it getting in her face for this.

Again, she formed the handseals and repeated the process before, to much the same result. She found herself unable to remain firmly planted on the wall, but she would continue trying. In the meantime, she chose to speak back to her sensei.

"What do I do? Well...I like to play with people. Get inside their heads, find out what makes them do the things they do...sometimes, torture them without ever laying a finger on them...but, for the most part, I hurt people. Emotionally, mentally, physically, all of it's good fun."

05-10-2009, 22:47
Day 2

Yoruko continued to hold her handseals and put her foot on the wall again. Obviously, the previous method she was using wasn't quite working out. Naturally, she assumed that if she couldn't quite keep a hold on it, she needed to apply more force, or, in this case, chakra. So...she did.

The results were...not as impressive as one may have thought. As she slowly increased the flow of chakra, she could steadily feel her foot become more and more "magnetized" to the wall. Eventually, however, she noticed that as she continued to add tiny amounts of chakra to her foot, the wall began to crack slightly. Feeling the need to explore this phenomenon deeper, she continued to feed chakra to her foot, watching the reaction the wall would have.

Bits of stone kept flaking off of the wall under her foot as she continued to add slight amounts of chakra until she felt what was almost like a bump underfoot. She pulled her foot off the wall and ceased her chakra flow and examined what seemed to be a depression in the wall made from her chakra. That's interesting...I bet all these other idiots hurt themselves by pumping too much chakra in at once. Something like this, if it keeps going the way it does, could potentially blast someone across the room. Good to know. I'm sure I can use that to my advantage later.

Yoruko now had a rough idea of where her perfect balance would be found-and she seemed to have found it with much less pain than most genin did. Sounds like a victory to me. And I was told my genin basic jutsu were going to be difficult. This is easy compared to the tournament.

Raphael
05-10-2009, 23:38
Fun is a poor reason to hurt people Gai said, watching as Yoruko worked on her tree climbing. She had much to learn indeed. There are better reasons than that. If you don't understand why you kill or hurt people, then your existence is meaningless.

Memories of his own life flooded over him again as he recounted the lesson. You're little more than a shell of a person- one whose motivations are shallow, neive. You must learn the world beyond these things, or you'll never amoubt to more than you are today. Its okay to have fun while doing it, but you need to have a real purpose.

Day 3

Yoruko listened to Gai's words with as much interest as she did any teacher. He was talking...but he didn't seem to be saying much that she wanted to hear. She rolled her eyes as she continued her training, this time focusing her chakra to the exact point she had found in between sliding off and blasting the wall. Her foot clung to the wall easily now, and as she lifted a second shaky foot to meet the other, she found that, to her satisfaction, there was virtually no slippage.

Still holding her seal, the girl looked back over her shoulder and let out an audible gasp of anger-her ponytail was dragging the ground! I suppose that's what I get for wearing it long today...ugh. And I liked this style...the girl pulled her hands apart, trying to reach for a kunai to chop her hair to a more manageable length-she never got that far. The instant her hands separated, her focus on the jutsu seemed to vanish, and she fell-painfully-on her rump. She glared angrily at the wall, as if it was the wall's fault she had fallen. I guess I'm not quite up to the "do it without handseals" part that Sensei was talking about earlier...still, I've got the basic stuff figured out. The rest shouldn't be too difficult.

Yoruko climbed to her feet and drew the kunai she had reached for before, dusting her backside off as she did so. With one clean cut, the young woman sliced some of her hair off, taking her hair's length down to only about halfway down her back. As she did so, she spoke to Gai once more.

"Well you don't have to be so rude about it...and besides, what's wrong with random acts of violence? Some people deserve it. The guy who I let die in the tournament? Turns out, he was a criminal himself! Letting him die was actually a good thing.

And if it keeps me alive, there's no reason for me to NOT do whatever I can. But...as for reasons...I don't really know. I just...I like to push people. I like to see what makes them tick. Knocking their gears around a little bit, yano? It makes me feel...better. I feel better than them when I can make someone beg for me to stop."

Raphael
06-10-2009, 00:56
So, you hurt them because you want to understand what makes them hurt? Gai asked, getting closer to his student as she trains. Does it give you a better understanding of pain to hurt others? Does it make you understand yourself better?

Gai knew all too well how it felt to feel pain only through the pain he himself had caused. for short periods of time, the killing had been able to fill the void in his soul, the one left by his desolate emotional state and the empty feeling he had gotten from the meaningless killing of his own parents.

If you must cause pain to understand pain, then cause pain to the right people! Don't make it meaningless.

Day 4

Yoruko bent her neck once in either direction, cracking the bones present in the region. She was getting into the flow of this training. It wouldn't be long now until she could get this completely figured out.

Once again, her hands formed the same seals as before, and, once again, she found herself easily finding the happy medium between too much chakra and not enough. That wasn't the tough part. Not anymore, at least. Now, it was just focus that she'd have to work towards. She once again rose only one foot up to the wall, being careful not to hurt herself any more than necessary-she learned that lesson the hard way.

Slowly but surely, Yoruko peeled her hands away, retaining her control over the chakra in her foot. It held, though it was still tentative at best. Yoruko closed her eyes, imagining her body and the chakra flowing through it. She imagined her foot glowing blue with chakra, the way it was illustrated in all those books back at TSU. She then imagined her other foot the same way, and lifted her grounded foot up to the wall, keeping her hands away from each other. It was an interesting feeling-she hadn't grown accustomed to using chakra without using her hands. It felt like at any moment, her chakra was going to give out on her. A voice in the back of her head kept screaming at Yoruko to put her hands back in their seal, that this was all wrong, that jutsu weren't supposed to be done like this-she ignored it.

Finally, she opened her eyes and walked up the wall, slowly, ever so slowly. She could feel that the jutsu was unstable. That was the next thing to work on-getting it finished and stable enough to use in battle.

"Understanding pain? I understand that pain is fun-and funny-when it happens to others. I understand that I enjoy watching a person bend and break under the pressure.

As for the right people...well, how do I decide who's "right"? Who is the kind of person I make suffer? I hope you're not about to give me some splat about good and evil...I decided a while ago that it's all relative to who's being hurt. Of course a villager will say that the mercenary who kills his son is evil...just like that mercenary who was paid to stop the insurrection against his payer will find his victims in the wrong.

So, who am I to determine who deserves it? Why not just hand it out balanced and fair? Everyone's a sinner at some point...no one's truly innocent. It's only fair to offer the same opportunity to be punished to everyone."

Raphael
06-10-2009, 04:26
I should find your pain quite hilarious then Gai said, sending chakra into his puppet's tail for Doll Control. The tail lurched out, extending to pierce into the young genin's shoulder. The move would look like a blur to her, if she could even see it at all.

The tail would only graze the shoulder, cutting it slightly. But, it would wrap around her neck, squeezing tight. A little at first, and then a bit more, until the moment before it felt like her head would merely pop off, like it was being pulled from a doll by a bottle opener.

At that moment, Gai would let go of her, letting her body drop to the ground. Let's get something straight here, girlie. Pain Ain't Funny. And you don't know the firs tthing about good and evil- there's no such thing

As Yoruko looked on at him in a gasping heap, Gai would pace around, saying to her, Like you said, we're all sinners, eh? So why not just purge the human race? His pacing picked up speed as he spoke, until he was frantically walking around in a figure 8 like a maniac. They're sinners, every last one of them. Then, when you're done, off yourself for good measure.

He stopped his mad rant, looking at the girl's face. That's not how that works, either. The right people are the ones that need a hurting. The wrong people are the ones that don't. That little shade of grey in the middle, its a lie. All it amounts to is a stained glass window between the black and the white. You say you like hurting people? Then find people worth hurting. Don't waste your time torturing the weak and the downtrodden.

You want someone to hurt? Hurt a shinobi who's forgotten why they fight. Hurt the maniac cutting people's heads off. In this world, strength determines who's right and whos wrong. Hardly fair, I'll admit. But that's just it- you're strong. Or at least you will be. Don't squander that strength. Use it for something worth while.

Day 5

Yoruko stared up at Gai, complete malice in her eyes. Her throat ached, moreso than her shoulder. Her eyes had become bloodshot, and involuntary tears welled up in her eyes, making her look even more pitiful. At that moment, her anger was directed at only one person. Gai.

Not even bothering with handseals for Kinobori, Yoruko charged up the wall, flipping through the seals for Narakumi no Jutsu. If she had been in her right mind, she may have noticed that Kinobori was coming as easily to her as if it didn't even matter-mostly because it didn't. With anger allowing her to focus on doing whatever she wanted to do, she didn't have to think about how to get to Gai-just that she had to. Yoruko, STOP!

She slid to a halt, just a few feet away from her sensei, her hands in the last seal of her genjutsu, the water from her tears now released and drawing a single line in makeup, going backwards away from her face as she stood horizontal on the wall.

"And what about you? You say I should hurt the maniac cutting people's heads off...how many heads have you cut off this month, I wonder?"

She didn't notice, but her hands were shaking. Even if she herself wanted to hurt Gai, her body knew that her best-in fact, her only-option would be to run away if things turned violent. Well...anymore violent than they had gotten.

She looked down at her feet, unable to shake her anger. It was only then that she realized that she was walking on the wall without really having to try too hard. She glanced around, suddenly feeling a freedom she hadn't truly felt before...well, that wasn't true. When people got hurt, she'd feel the same floating feeling...but this was different.

She looked back at Gai, keeping her anger as poised as she could against the flood of excitement she felt from mastering her first genin basic jutsu. Now was not the time to forget that she was angry...after all, the man HAD just choked her and then dropped her off of the wall she was standing on. A thought crossed her mind though, one that made it impossible to keep from smiling.

"So? Did you laugh a little, inside?"

Yoruko giggled, her anger seemingly forgotten, and she dropped her hands to her sides, dropping her genjutsu without ever setting it. She'd get her licks in...maybe. Now wasn't the time though. Maybe when she got older, better able to handle his superior skills. You'll scream, Sensei. You will.

Gai watched as his worst fear emerged in front of him. He was all too familiar with this technique, having been put in it a few times before. He watched as his parents began emerging from the ground, their decaying corpses standing at his sides, muttering terrible things about how he was an ungreatful brat, about how he killed them in cold blood, about how his mother should have never given birth to him.

And he stood there, the illusions of his parents muttering in his ears, and said to Yoruko, his face practically emotionless, No, I didn't laugh inside. As for this month? None. I killed a few people in self defense, but the circumstances behind their deaths are irrelevant.

He walked towards her, his decaying parents, and now an entire army of his victims, marching beside him, attempting to torment him. Strike me down then, if you think you can. If you think you should. You might be wondering what I'm seeing right now.

He looked to his left. My Dead father, whose throat I slit. A sati boy, who I brutally punctured to death with needles. An entire Konoii ballet school. Nameless others. He turned his head to his right. My mother, whose throat I also slit. An academy student who looked at me the wrong way when I was walking through Nagare. The man who guarded my cell while did time in the prison. Nameless others more.

He looked at the girl, not particularly impressed by her little trick. Here's the problem with fear, Yoruko. Even your greatest fear: sooner or later, you have to face it. And once you're ready to face it, that fear doesn't have power over you.

She hadn't had to cast the genjutsu, Gai had seen it on his own. Perhaps a subconscious response, perhaps his RPer just responding to after reading most of the post but not all. You'll have to try harder if you want to laugh over me. You can threaten me with my greatest fears, you can tantalize me with my greatest fantasies, but know this: My will is stronger than iron, than carbon steel, than metals Seichi has never seen. You think you're so tough, because you won a silly little tournament? Because you know how to torture inadequate little prepubescent boys who want to play ninja?

The missing nin spat at the girl's feet. Pain and suffering are nothing more than meager distractions. torture and mind games are just that: Games. Like I said before: Have your fun. But don't let the fun distract you from why you actually do it.

Yoruko had nothing much to say. There was one issue she wanted to make clear though. One very important one.

"I didn't win. I tied."

The way she said it obviously showed that she didn't like that particular fact. She hopped off the wall, back down to the ground, and started walking away from Gai. She walked over to the nearest pillar she could find, turned around, and slumped her body down to the ground, staring up at Gai with her best defiant face.

"Is there more to learn?"

Gai smirked. At least there was some humility buried down there. It was something, if nothing else.

He reached to the dungeon wall, pressing a button. A trapdoor opened, revealing a small pond, only about eight feet across. He walked up to it, performing the handseals he needed for Suimen and said, Walking on water is a similar principle, but completely opposite. You use your chakra to repel yourself away from the water. And what makes it more complicated- you need to compensate for every wave and ripple in the water.

He stepped off of the water, reaching to his belt for one of his gas bombs. He dipped it in the water, pulling his hand out quickly before it went off. Carbonic Acid gas quickly came out, liquifying almost instantly in the cooler liquid around it. Now you give it a try Gai said, backing a safe distance away from the pool.

Day 1

Yoruko walked to the edge of the water and stopped. Gai did something to the water. That was somewhat obvious, since water wasn't supposed to be pale red, and it wasn't a few seconds ago. You're not a very kind sensei, are you?

Yoruko knelt down and put a few strands of her hair in the water, watching what happened. It was eaten away after just a few seconds.

"That's just wrong..."

Yoruko backed away from the water/acid and gave it some thought. Obviously, she'd need to walk on top of this stuff to ever get to be able to learn Suimen...she doubted her kind, loving sensei would let her learn on anything but this acid. At least it gave her incentive not to fall in.

Yoruko approached the water and set one foot over it gingerly. There was roughly an inch of space between her foot and the water. Her hands flipped through the handseals needed for this particular jutsu, and after a few seconds, she began focusing her chakra to her feet, similar to how she did it before. As she watched the water beneath her foot, it started to drip...but it was dripping up. Her foot seemed to be attracting the water rather than repelling it. That doesn't sound right...He said to repel myself from the surface...this seems like it would just make me sink faster.

She focused more chakra to her feet, but only got the same result, this time, the drops becoming larger as more and more acid water was added to the already existing deposits on the bottom of her foot. Apparently, she had to do something else to make this jutsu work the right way. Perhaps reversing her chakra flow could do the trick? There was only one way to see.

Yoruko ended her focusing and stepped back away from the water, the drops on her foot falling away as she did so. She turned her foot up, wondering if the acid was even possible to walk on. As she had expected, where the drops of water had pulled themselves to her feet, she now had depressions in the bottom of her boots. Great. I'm going to need a new pair of shoes when this is done, I see.

Yeah, that stuff really hurts Gai said, It's advised that you don't fall in. Perhaps this would be a lesson Yoruko could use- pain is ometimes a necessary part of life. By being able to endure pain, you are able to be better for it, to learn from the pain you experience.

But don't be afraid of the water. Fear is only a distraction that will prevent you from achieving your goal.

Day 2

"I'm not afraid of it...I'm respectful of it. There's a difference."

Yoruko turned away from her sensei and got back to her training. Her hands flipped through the various seals for her new technique, and, once again, she placed her foot over the rippling waters below her. This time, however, she forced her chakra in her feet to flow the opposite way from before. It wasn't easy-it seemed to go against her nature. Then again, no one ever told her that it was human nature to learn how to walk on water, so she was fine with it for now.

As she inched her foot closer to the water, she noticed that, rather than being attracted to her foot, the water seemed to want to get as far away as possible. Her foot seemed to make the water dip away, and avoid touching her at all, creating a small crater in the surface of the pool. While cool, that wasn't quite the point of the technique. Yoruko backed away from the water once more, giving the jutsu more though as she ended her latest try with it. Too much chakra? Maybe...I'm sure I can figure this out though.

Yoruko glared at Gai. He could pretend to be high and mighty all day-this little exercise of his proved it-he was no better than she was. Still, she'd have to figure out a way around this little impediment, as mean as her sensei was being with this particular technique.

"So...seems kinda funny that you'd be carrying something like that around with you without enjoying inflicting pain on people. Seems to me like something like that belongs more in the hands of someone who really loves it."

Raphael

Or someone who really needs it Gai said, I'm a ninja, remember?. He sat in a chair by Retsu's bed as he watched his second student continue on with her training. Being able to hurt others- its not a game to me, its not fun. It's about surviving, winning the fight at hand to survive until you're forced to fight the next one.

He pushed another button, causing a cylinder-shaped wall to pop up all around Yoruko, connecting to the ceiling above. It began to close in on her more and more, making it impossible for her to inch away from the water. And, to complicate matters, the water level would begin rising.

I'm not making you endure these things because I think its fun. I'm trying to test your limits, so you're not just another weak brat who knows how to walk on water.

Day 3

Son of a bitch.

It was about the only thing she had time to think as the walls rose up around her. She briefly wondered how a cylindrical wall could shrink without crushing itself, but then she waved it off as ninja magix. After all, she had more pressing concerns at the moment. No pun intended.

Her hands flashed through her various handseals as she did just about the only thing she could think of doing-she walked to the edge of the pool, took a deep breath, and stepped on the water, with the grinding of the wall behind her. Once again, there was a crater-like depression made in the surface of the water. That won't do. That won't do at all.

Yoruko slowly focused on her chakra more, playing exactly the opposite game she had with Kinobori-back then, she had to add minute amounts of chakra to reach the point she needed. Now, however, she would have to take chakra away from her feet to produce the desired effect. Not the easiest of tasks when there was a wall grinding ever closer to her, and when the water seemed to be rising steadily.

Even so, she continued to remove chakra from her foot, and as she did so, the crater made by her chakra seemed to shrink in size, bit by bit, until, finally, there was no longer a crater there. Her foot still hovered an inch or two above the water, but that was quickly changing-the water level was rising, making her hovering game that much more difficult. Just one last thing to do, I suppose.

Day 4

She jumped.

Holding her handseal, focusing her chakra to her feet, and praying to every deity in every religion she could think of that it would be sufficient, Yoruko leaped towards the pool of water, feet first.

Thankfully, her chakra held. Unfortunately, she could see a bit of smoke coming from under her shoes-the water was eating away at the soles of her shoes, and it wouldn't be long until it had finished the job completely. The only thing she could do was continue training and hope this sadistic lesson of hers would be over before she got a chance to regret coming here.

She dared to pull her hands apart ever so slightly, and then quickly changed her mind as she felt her body sink just as slightly. Let me guess...next comes learning to do it with out my hands, and after that, I need to figure this out without having to think about it? Seems about right.

Yoruko leaped away from the pool, using an extra burst of chakra to her feet to propel her towards the advancing wall. She clung to the wall with Kinobori as it approached the water with her hands, whispering silent prayers and closing her eyes as the water rose to meet her.

C'mon girl...you can do this...just think about focusing your chakra...you got this, it's not a problem.

Day 5

With her eyes closed, Yoruko once again imagined her body the same way the diagrams in school taught her how to do when picturing chakra flow. So long as her hands were holding her up to the wall, she couldn't use them in handseals, so that was slightly advantageous to her in the sense that she wouldn't be tempted.

As she imagined her feet, glowing blue with chakra just like in the diagrams, she focused the same amount of chakra she had found to work for this jutsu to her feet, waiting for the water to rise high enough for her to test her chakra control at this particular obstacle. She risked opening her eyes to look down and instantly wished that she didn't. The water was rising much too quickly for her liking. It was to be expected-as their would soon be less room for the water to spread across, it would rise up much faster than before. Still though, she didn't want to think about it too hard.

As the liquid touched her feet, she instantly felt resistance. Obviously, her focusing was working correctly. She looked down at her feet, noticing with more and more panic that her shoes were simply not going to survive this training exercise. She released her hold on the wall and focused on keeping herself as far above water as possible, racking her brain for any possible way to escape the painful acids in this test. As she glanced around frantically, occasionally slipping and tossing more of the sinister liquid onto higher parts of her clothing, she noticed what seemed strange to her. The walls...they're not being eaten away...this poison is a clever one, but it has it's limits...I found one.

Yoruko once again leaped to the wall, but this time, shot herself considerably higher. She would need time to do what she had planned. While stationed on the wall, Yoruko focused Kinobori to her hands once more-this time though, she did something differently. She purposely focused too much chakra to her palms, just enough to make the wall start flaking away. The drips and drops of chips of stone falling into the water told her that it simply wasn't enough-she needed more chakra to pull off what she had planned.

With a low growl, she focused a tiny bit more chakra to each of her palms, and almost laughed when she got exactly what she hoped for. She pulled her hands away from the wall as she focused Kinobori to her knees and feet, allowing her to remain attached to the wall. Attached to her hands, though, were thin slabs of stone. I...I can use these.

Day 6

Her plan worked with almost no time left to spare. With nothing now covering the soles of her feet, Yoruko had to find a new kind of shoe. And she did-one that wouldn't be pierced by Gai's poison. She jumped up one last time, this time taking care not to try to touch any walls. Immediately after, Yoruko slipped the stone plates under her feet and focused on Kinobori to keep the makeshift shoes in place.

As she fell down towards the surface of the water, she would focus something else as well. Suimen. It was definitely going to be a trick, trying to focus Suimen and Kinobori through the same medium at the same time, but it would protect her feet, at least.

As she landed on the water, she almost immediately seemed to lose her grip on Suimen. Her feet sank into the water, though, thankfully, enough of the tops of her boots were left to allow her to stay relatively unharmed. She redoubled her focus, and, complete with her stone shoes, rose back up to above the surface of the ever rising water. Her stone shoes weren't easy to figure out-but they worked well enough. She still was a bit shaky on the water-she'd get that straightened out though. Her hands formed a single handseal, in particular, Snake, as she worked on focusing both Kinobori and Suimen simultaneously.

The chakra in her feet had to do two very opposite things at the same time-flow in opposite directions of one another. Yoruko figured out how to do this though by making her chakra brush past itself-some of it flowed the natural direction, some of it flowed the opposite-the hard part though, was forcing her chakra to differentiate between targets. She found that if she focused on the two separately, it came easier to her than trying to focus at it all at once. Thankfully though, the more she kept at it, the easier it got, until, quite quickly, it became as natural to her as breathing, or blinking.

She wouldn't waste any time-she figured out her new trick, it was time to get out.

"Hey...umm...I think I got it...you can let me out now...please?"

Gai pushed the button, and the water level of the cylinder quickly dropped, followed immediately by the magical cylindrical wall sinking back into the ground. That just leaves releasing genjutsu.

Gai turned his head. Goro! he called. The missing nin came back in and performed a genjutsu on Yoruko, one she was very familiar with, Narakumi no Jutsu. Gai made a hdnseal for her before he did, telling her, You need to send chakra to your mind, which can then be used to disrupt the genjutsu. You'll need roughly as much chakra as the jutsu needed to be cast in the first place. Oh, and you need to yell "Kai!" loudly.

And like that, Yoruko was trapped in her own genjutsu.

Day 5
-----

He opened his eyes slightly, and all he could see was the image of friends, on a green grassy hill, his parents near, the area overflowing with smell of food. His pain was gone, and it was as if he was completely healed. Yet this was false. No med-nin was this skilled. He grinned, his pain not there to impair his judgement. If he was going to learn, he would do it now. He savored this dream world for a few more seconds, trying to eye everyone he knew, trying to find them. But no. Focus. He felt around his chakra pathways, and almost smiled. Every single part of his body was completely fucked up.

He tried to asses the damage that the female had done on him, what parts of his body she had messed up. Well, the damage on the optic nerve was different than before. The electrical impulses were completely blocked, her own chakra replacing the images that he would have normally received. He sent a spike though one of the blockades on his right eye, and a fuzzy image appeared on his vision, the image of a white hospital room. He smiled grimly, and went to study other parts. His nose now. This was pretty unique. A thin net of chakra was stopping the odor molecules from reaching the glands, and it was making weak ones of it's own. A single stab verified his guess. The fuzzy odor of sanitized objects reach him.

Time for his nerve cells. He searched around. Almost every single pathway was blocked and replaced by an image that suited his scene. Strangely, the only thing he could feel was his feet, sore. He laughed loudly, finding it extremely amusing that such a genjutsu would leave your feet open. He gathered his chakra, waiting and waiting, over a period of minutes. He released the concentrate in a large burst, almost releasing a scream of pain, the onset of his pain returning.

Well, time to actually do something about it. Before he left the room.

Day 6
-----

He rolled on his side feebly, as he made the handseal for Kai, as quickly as he normally would, thanks to the effect of the Genjutsu. His eyes still closed, he screamed a single word, send spikes through every single blockade, net, whatever it was that was in him. His current image faded, and the image of Gai next to him, and the new girl appeared in front of his eyes. He focused on that now. He led more chakra into his eyes and nose, and set a stab to them. His vision blacked out, and the scents were gone. Too much, so much that it blacked out his own system. He beared his mouth in a grimace, and set to it again.

He judged his amount, and set it off again. His vision reappeared, and the scent of newly sanitized equipment reached him. He grinned at Gai, and smiled.

"Not to die? Seriously? I'm an MN now. Death is a part of life now."

He bared himself again, and set to his nerve cells. He sent another blast of chakra, nearly bit his tongue in half, the pain so immense. Unsealing the rest of his pills, he swallow them all, and charged up his chakra system.

"Kai!"

He smiled, as the pain came on, the Genjutsu completely worn off, the pills and the medical ninja's doing, their job coming into effect. Thank you.

He smiled once at both of them, before reaching for the nearest bucket Once done retching, he unsealed a gallon of his water, and repeatedly rinsed his mouth.

"Now. Remind me to never train Kai again."

Day 1

With almost no warning, the water level dropped, leaving Yoruko standing on her makeshift shoes, the only dry thing around. Then, the walls gave away as well, allowing the girl to leap away, towards dryer land. She immediately took off what remained of her boots, noticing with disdain that her socks had taken fatal damage as well. She sighed, pulling her socks off as well as the man named Goro came back.

Yoruko tossed her socks behind her, into one particular depression in the ground where a puddle of the acidic water had gathered. They almost immediately began melting away. Guess I need to get LOTS of new clothes...this is going to be expensive, I can see.

Yoruko wouldn't have much time to worry about that-it seemed her sensei didn't believe in breaks. That was fine, she hadn't exhausted herself to a massive degree yet. Unfortunately, as Goro returned, she recognized the handseals he was using. Of course she would recognize them-they were her favorites. She briefly heard Gai's advice-and then, before she could put up even a slight protest to the particular genjutsu she was about to suffer, she felt her world go dark.

~In The Genjutsu~

When light returned to her world after what felt like hours, Yoruko was stunned by the sheer...non-nightmarish environment. She was in the middle of a forest, a beautiful forest at that. She turned her head, looking for a flaw somewhere in the forest before her-there was none. Everywhere she turned, there was more natural beauty, beauty that seemed to enjoy life in general. I don't get it...this isn't scary. This feels nice. I know for a fact he didn't use Sa Ato Nozomi...what the hell is going on?...oh well. I suppose I just need to break it, no matter what. Alright. Let's go.

Yoruko put her hands together in the seal Gai specified, closed her eyes, and focused her chakra to her head, just like he said. She yelled "KAI!" as loud as she could, and released her chakra, like a blast from her head-nothing happened. To be expected...Kai is supposed to be the hardest...still though, I figured I'd at least be able to make a dent in genjutsu, since the other two were so easy...well, would have been, were it not for my insane teacher...

Yoruko considered trying to break the genjutsu again, but paused. There was something she needed to see for herself. Namely-what it was that she was supposedly afraid of. So far, she'd seen nothing overly terrifying. The girl opened her eyes, glancing confidently around her mental forest, waiting for whatever nightmare her mind could conjure up to appear.

The girl took a step forward and everything changed-there was a bright white light seemingly everywhere as the scenery around erupted into a flock of birds. Ok...that's weird, but not frightening-what?

The birds weren't simply going to fly away, though. No, instead, they seemed to flutter together to form an image...an image of...Kajo?

Indeed, it was the ninja she defeated in her first tournament match. He was leaning against something, and his legs were mangled, as if they had taken heavy abuse, probably from explosive tags-and he was laughing. Tossing...something to the side as he did so. Yoruko strained her eyes, trying to see what it was...hair. Kajo was cutting off his hair and tossing it around, laughing like a madman to himself as he did so.

A shiver ran down Yoruko's spine-she knew this scene. She remembered it quite plainly. Except this time, the roles had been reversed. Her eyes grew wide and she flashed her eyes down to her bare feet-there was green hair underneath them. A laugh from Kajo turned her eyes back up to face him-his hands were on the ground, and she could see her own green hair forming a bond with her feet, completely removing her ability to dodge-she was trapped. Shit...shitshitshitshit.

She had good reason to be afraid-she knew the next part of this scene too. Frantically, she brought her hands to meet each other, to form the seal for Genjutsu Kai. She focused chakra to her head, trying to clear the genjutsu before the scene could finish-she wasn't able to. Kajo finished his seals first, and the last thing she could see was his hair erupting from his head, like so many foul snakes coming to wrap her and sink their fangs into her flesh. The hair wrapped around her eyes-a detail that never happened in the original scene-in addition to wrenching her arms apart, snaking up her legs, and wrapping around her stomach.

"Kai! Kai! KAI! KAI! KAAII!"

She already knew that she wouldn't make it in time though. A sudden, sharp pain pierced all of her limbs, her stomach, her back, her eyes-everywhere it touched. She screamed and fell to her knees, her voice eventually dying out. She could still see nothing, but now she couldn't hear, feel, smell anything either.

She knew one unfortunate fact, though-the genjutsu hadn't yet run it's course. There was more in store for her.

Day 2

Out of nowhere, the pain from her wounds vanished, her sight returned to her, and she was back in the same forest as before. She breathed hard for a few moments, trying to figure out what just happened-well...she knew what happened. The roles were reversed. She experienced the same agony she put her victim through. Karma happened.

She breathed a long sigh. She knew how Narakumi worked-this sort of thing would keep happening until the genjutsu broke. She wouldn't let it continue though. Yoruko's hands flew together, forming the familiar seal for Genjutsu Kai, and, once again, she focused chakra to her head again, screamed Kai once more, and opened her eyes-nothing had changed. Dammit...not again...please...why isn't this working? Not enough chakra? I'm using the same amount I always use for Narakumi...what the hell is wrong? I can't...what the hell?

Unfortunately for her, her pleadings would go unheard. This time, she found herself floating in freezing cold water-the same way Angelyn had been when Yoruko struck at her. Yoruko didn't bother fighting back-she could remember from the fight with Angelyn that it wouldn't do to try. Even so, this wasn't about the genjutsu-this was about training! She needed to break out of the genjutsu, even if it got to her first. Her eyes took in her opponent, long, beautiful golden hair behind Angelyn, hidden from sight. Angelyn didn't know where Yoruko's hair had been that match. Yoruko knew, though. She knew that Angelyn's hair was in the water behind her, and was about to rise up from beneath her like a great set of jaws, entangling her in their blue strands of pain. In the meantime, Yoruko's hands were in the Kai position, tears were flooding her eyes, and her vision seemed to glow blue-whether that was light from the sky shining through her blue hair cocoon, or whether it was chakra blocking her vision, she had no idea.

She imagined the diagram again, picturing her head as bright blue, trying to imagine the chakra flowing to, and flooding itself, in her head. Suddenly, she felt a constriction on her body-Angelyn's (or, Yoruko's) was tightening around her body, preparing to pierce everything the girl owned, only narrowly avoiding vital organs to ensure disqualification wouldn't happen. She fought the tears back-she NEEDED to break this genjutsu NOW. She couldn't let the next scene happen. She simply wouldn't be able to handle that.

"KAI!"

Her world seemed to shimmer for a bit, as if she was staring at the world through an aquarium glass, but then reformed into the blue darkness that was her own torture. As she became mummified in hair, she felt the same recently felt pain as before-her hair penetrated her skin, driving itself deeper and deeper into her flesh, forcing her to scream out in agony as her own victim's fate became her own. The world faded to black once again.

Day 3

Shit...no...please...Her silent begging would do nothing to halt the heartless genjutsu, unfortunately. She was once again in the tranquil forest, trapped in a place that used to be comfortable for her-only now did she truly see how nightmarish it was to be whisked between your dreams and your nightmares back to back. Her dreams became a nightmare, a prelude to something she knew was much worse than she had experienced so far.

Feebly, the girl tried to form the Kai handseal again-it was difficult to do through her sobbing. Once more, she focused the same chakra to her head, trying to force enough into the brain to disrupt the chakra-maybe it was her slow and steady approach with the others halting her. Perhaps, instead, she needed to focus the chakra much more quickly, make it so abrupt that there was no way for the jutsu to prepare itself for her. She tried, imagining the diagram with a glowing head as she did so. She pictured a blue glow in all the body suddenly dimming, and the head suddenly flaring to life. She opened her eyes and tried to scream Kai as loud as she could, but it only came out as a choking gasp-mainly because she opened her eyes to a scene she knew was coming, but wasn't prepared to see.

There was Yuuma. Standing on a platform, laughing at Yoruko. There would be no hair coming towards her this time. Instead, there would be something slightly worse.

Yoruko glanced down at the platform she was standing on-the quickly sinking platform. She tried leaping away, but, like she knew would happen, it wouldn't work. Yuuma hadn't leapt away, after all. She would have to suffer his pain. Yoruko's hands gripped the Kai seal as hard as she could, her tears making the orange glow of the lava beneath her shimmer. She blinked away the wetness, forcing a rush of chakra to her skull and screaming at the top of her lungs, even though she knew it'd be in vain.

"Kai!...Kai!...KAI! Oh God, please, KAI!"

Even though she knew it wouldn't break, she at least felt a slight-extremely slight-relief in the fact that the genjutsu DID seem to waver a bit...at least, before IT happened.

Her frantic cries were replaced by screams-what she had just touched was much worse than any acid Gai could have made would have ever been. She instinctively fell to her knees, clutching at her useless feet-it was useless. Yuuma hadn't bent over. Yuuma hadn't given any kind of indication of any kind of pain. None at all. Yoruko wasn't the same though. She couldn't just pretend she wasn't burning to death-unfortunately, she wasn't burning to death. She was just burning.

Kai wouldn't be possible any more. Not until this part of the illusion was done. Slowly, painfully, agonizingly, Yoruko sunk deeper and deeper into the lava. Yuuma was dead by now-Yoruko wouldn't be so lucky. She couldn't die in this genjutsu.

As the lava reached her face, she finally stopped sobbing-she couldn't. Her body was simply in too much agony to even consider crying. Finally, the world went black, and the pain she felt faded away.

When her sight returned, she was back in the dungeon, lying on her side in the fetal position, sobbing in pain as her hands laid uselessly in the Kai handseal. She couldn't feel anger anymore-not at the moment. She clutched at the ground, trying as hard as she could to find any kind of solace that may have been available to her. There was none, other than knowing the genjutsu was over.

"No...no more...please..."

The genjutsu released both genin, and Gai looked them over. Break time he said clamly. He looked at Yoruko, and then to Retsu. You need a break to prevent chakra exhaustion, and you need a break because you look like someone dropped a house on you.

He sat down, getting a bottled water for himself giving another to each of his two students, so they could refresh themselves. Retsu, at least, seemed to be done with his training. But Yoruko had some time left.

Yoruko crawled to Gai's side, taking the water and drinking it down with shaky gulps. Obviously, Narakumi wasn't a fun jutsu to be on the other end of. Yoruko understood that now.

If only it had made her love the jutsu less. Nay, it had quite the opposite effect on the kunoichi's mind. It damn near made me want to kill myself...if that's how it works on other people...that's...I love this jutsu...I need to figure out how to break it though. It's absolutely necessary.

She only barely registered that Gai was asking something of her. She was fine with whatever it was, since she wasn't worried about it. She was only thinking of what she could have been doing wrong, staring into space ahead of her. Her head seemed to be stuck in a permanent nod-it should have been obvious to anyone that she wasn't really listening, but was instead stuck in her own little dream world. Maybe I need to try something in addition to what Sensei said...I mean, every genjutsu is different, and in the case of Narakumi, it's different for every person...maybe Kai is similar. Maybe it can be different for different people.

She curled her legs up tight to her body, occasionally gulping down more water. It wouldn't be long now before she had this thing figured out. It never did take her very long for anything. That was simply how the world worked.

IC: Once Yoruko had sufficient time to rest, Goro would lock her in the same genjutsu. It was time to see if she could break it or not.

Day 4

The Genjutsu began this time the same way as the last. The same forest was there, both beautiful and menacing at the same time. Yoruko wasn't sure what would happen this time-she couldn't remember doing anything much worse to anyone else than the things she had already done. Her fourth match hadn't ended in bloodshed, and her final match had been a tie (one that she was actually at the worst end of). So, she didn't know what else the genjutsu could throw at her.

Turns out...nothing else. She found herself in that white space again after no time at all. Yoruko climbed to her feet and wiped her tears away, preparing to face Kajo and his/Yoruko's jutsu again.

She would ignore his laughing and the chopping off of his hair, and form the handseal for Kai. She focused her chakra, this time doing more than just running it through her head-she ran it through her entire body. She could see the green hair racing towards her as she continued to face the jutsu-she could feel it almost reach her, and then she screamed her jutsu's name.

"Kai!"

As she screamed the jutsu's name, she abruptly stopped her chakra flow, paying special attention to the chakra in her head. The hair seemed to freeze-everything did. For a few seconds, she thought she may have had it...and then the false world came back into full motion, the green strands wrapped around her body, and her screams would be drowned out (in her own head, at least) by the hair covering her mouth. She braced her body for the pain-but there was only so much you could do to be ready for that.

A scream would run through the dungeon, for the fourth time that day.

Day 5

Expectantly, the pain quickly subsided and Yoruko found herself back in the forest. She stood up, forming the handseals for Genjutsu Kai again. She was onto something last time-she felt it. The Genjutsu had almost given way to her. All she needed was just one little something extra-but what was it?

The answer would have to wait, or be discovered right now. Yoruko found herself partially submerged in icy waters, just like the last time. Only this time, she was ready, yet again. She HAD to break the genjutsu before the third scene could start-before it could REALLY start, anyways.

Once again, the girl traced her chakra flow, accelerating it through her body as much as she could feel safe about doing. She watched in her head as the chakra followed the path described in the diagram, and found herself moving her eyes in accordance to the false image in her head.

The water around Yoruko seemed to explode as blue hairs burst the surface of the near frozen liquid, and Yoruko abruptly halted her chakra flow again-this time, however, she made sure to send as much of it to her head as possible. Once again, time in the Genjutsu world seemed to stop. This time, however, would be different.

In front of Yoruko, as if the world was made of glass, was a small crack, seemingly suspended in space. Yoruko, obviously, was a bit confused by this, so she touched the crack-this caused the entire world to fracture, if you will. As the world began falling apart, Yoruko could feel her heartbeat picking up pace, warning her that something was wrong. The world fell apart-and was replaced by the forest.

Whoa...I stopped that one before it finished...the genjutsu's still going, but I skipped that effect...Alright then. Time to do this. I can stop it this time. I won't fail again.

Day 6

As the forest gave way to a more earthy-and fiery-setting, Yoruko's resolve seemed to have redoubled. She remembered the pain now-she would simply NOT go through with that again.

Yuuma was standing on his platform, seemingly laughing his ass off at Yoruko. Yoruko didn't remember being so annoying...her laugh was MUCH sweeter sounding than that. Like honey...or candy. Or arsenic. "Shut the hell up."

Yoruko's hands formed the seal for Genjutsu Kai, hopefully for the last time. She looked down at her feet, and her heart skipped a beat-she was sinking. This time, things seemed to be taking on a much more hurried pace. Perhaps it was because she had already seen this before-the world didn't seem to be slowing down every time she got a new shock. Not anymore, at least.

Once more, she used her old strategy of forcing the chakra all over her body to flow faster and faster, forcing it to build up it's speed until she simply couldn't make it flow any more. This time, she wouldn't be able to wait til the last minute-she simply wasn't willing to take that pain again.

She watched as the lava drew ever closer to her bare feet. The platform she was standing on seemed to be getting smaller and smaller, the lava seemed to be trying to catch up to Yoruko-it didn't want her to escape. It wanted her a second time, it wanted to make her scream again. Too bad.

Yoruko forced her chakra to stop, ran it all to her head-she could feel the heat of the lava radiating to her flesh, so close to her was the blazing liquid. She gave a light chuckle, and then, at the same time as her necessary cry of "Kai!", unleashed her chakra, not just letting it flow again, but FORCING it to flow, pushing it through her system as if trying to beat a plug by putting too much pressure on it. It worked.

This time, she didn't have to touch the crack, nor did she notice it until her world had already shattered to pieces around her. As the glassy genjutsu world crumbled, it was gradually replaced with the real world, with the dark, scary dungeon, with Gai, Goro, and her apparent new teammate.

"There. Done."

Alright. I am officially done training this stuff to people Gai said. He felt like he'd taught nearly a dozen people, which was odd given his circumstances. It wasn't like he was one of the only jounin in seichi or something...

With everyone's trainign done, it was time to progress to other matters. Good job. Now, about that mission...

He walked up to the dungeon wall and grabbed a small cord seeming to hang from the ceiling, pulling it down. It revealed a screen that had a map of Seichi on it. He pointed at an arbitrary location in the Sun Country. There is a Star Labs facility at this location. I want to procure a shipment of their weapons for the army. I think the rest is fairly self explanatory. Are you two coming or what?

His mouth turned into an unpleasant scowl at Gai. "Or more like I ran into a wall." He took unsealed a muffin, splitting it in third with a kunai, taking his part into his mouth, and offering the other pieces to the teammate called Yoruko, and Gai.

He listened to his mentors assignment warily, his ears perking up at the mention of weapons.

"Just one question. How good are the weapons, and can we keep any? I wanna kill some rabbits."

He shrugged and drew one of his skates, twirling them in his hand as he spoke. He wanted blood. Why? He didn't know. Did he have to care? No. Did he? Not a chance in hell.

Rest up then. Gai said, Once you've both returned to full strength, we move out. And of course you can keep some of the weapons- why would I arm the nameless red shirt minions and not give the rest of the cast the same equipment?

Perhaps Gai had broken the fourth wall a bit, but he didn't care. It was a good Star Trek reference and no one would take it away from him. He walked upstairs to return to his quarters.

Yoruko followed Gai, not bothering with the muffin-she wasn't particularly hungry. In any case, she took what she was offered and waited until she made it upstairs and out of sight to toss it in the trash. It was hard enough working with people like this without potentially offending them-it was even harder when one was exhausted from strenuous training.

Yoruko made her way to one of the civilian workers and demanded to be shown to her quarters. The possibility that she didn't have quarters here never even occurred to the Konoi girl-and she was eventually led to a room with a bed in it, so she figured that would work just fine. After giving that particular civilian a small amount of money, she demanded that he go into town and get her several pairs socks and a single pair of boots that exactly matched the ones she had earlier-it didn't look like she'd be home for a few days, much to her dismay. So, she'd have to do a bit of shopping instead. Or, rather, the people she told to do her shopping for her would have to do the shopping.

Yoruko laid down in her bed and got the rest she so obviously deserved.

-Enter Gai and Jarvis-

Jarvis ran through the gates, huffing and puffing. Gai had to be home, he just had to. He was the only one who could stop Lex's twisted plan. The old butler nearly collapsed running up the steps, but he made it to the top of the steps, where he fell face first into Gai's room.

Gai ran to his old friend's aid. Jarvis! What's wrong? Are you okay? The missing nin asked, lifting the butler up onto his shoulders and carrying him to a chair.

Jarvis took a moment to catch his breath, wiping the sweat from his brow. No, I'm not. We have serious trouble He said, folding his hands into his lap and assuming his more serious demeanor.

Raphael
13-10-2009, 02:45
Trouble? Gai wondered. He had to onder what was so bad that Jarvis had rushed from Silence to tell him. Was the butler in danger? Had Lex made his first move? Were the Kemuri all dead?

Lex has begun hatching a sinister plan Jarvis said. He explained to Gai in excrutiating detail the plan with the prison camps, and missing nin replacing kidnapped civilians. How the civilians were to be worked as slaves, while the missing nin killed the shinobi around them and enslaved their families. How the smallest children would be raised in a replicant of Project StarHeart.

No... Gai thought. He would not let this happen. He could not let this happen. First, he would save the prisoners. And then he would return to mobilize his army against Lex. Sit tight, I'll go save them Gai said, opening his window.

Good Luck Jarvis said as Gai leapt towards the land of silence using Up, Up and Away.

Enter Gai

Gai landed in front of the manor, presumably alongside Takaro. Welcome to the Wayne Manor, my humble abode he said, If you want to mask your identity, I suggest you take on a henge he would inform his comrade before entering the estate.

On his way inside, Gai would tell one of the gate guards, Assemble the troops, and send for any that are away. The time had come for the invasion of Silence. He waited in the courtyard as his army, comprised of roughly 100 missing nin and turned manhunters, would assemble. They would file in one by one, forming 10 lines of 10 men.

Not bad, eh? Gai would ask Takaro under his breath as he prepared to make his speech.

--------------------

While Gai's men were gathering, a hawk was sent to the missing troops. They'd receive this message, written in a code only those loyal to Gai would be trained to read:

Hello

We are mobilizing. Come to the manor IMMEDIATELY

-Gai

Takaro looked around at the place. He was a bit impressed at what he saw. Before they had entered the place he had listened to what he had said. He then calmly shacked his head.

"I don't need to mask my identity at all. Very few people know of my presence on this world. Especially with this mask, they won't know a thing."

They entered into the place and he watched as the 100 men began to form in lines. He was now impressed more that before. This equaled up to how many Soldiers he could make. He would continue to watch his companion.

Men Gai said, pacing back and forth in front of his troops, Today is the day we've been waiting for. The oppression that you have all faced at the hands of Lex Luthor has come to an end. Tonight, we shall take back Neo Horizon from this tyrant, and make it what it was always meant to be: A safe haven for shinobi like us!

The men let out a brilliant cheer in excitement. Whe I helped to build that city, I built it because I wanted a home, just like all of you do. I wanted to get away fro the blind tyranny and the smothering grip of the hidden villages, and Luthor has made Neo Horizon just that. We didn't leave our villages and our old lives for more of the same!

Gai stopped in the center, turning to face his men. When we enter Neo Horizon, We will moev in two groups. Those of you who are part of the palace assault team, you will come with me. You know who you are. As for the rest of you he gestured an arm to Takaro, You will join my colleague here. He will lead you on a rampage through Neo Horizon's streets. Kill any who oppose you, enlist the rest to our cause. If we have to, we'll knock the entire village down and start fresh again!

The men cheered once more, and were ready to embark. Gai's three man cell joined him, and the rest of the group huddled behind Takaro. You know the way to Neo Horizon, don't you? Gai said, smirking. If not, just follow us. We're marching through the front gate.

And with that, Gai and his men marched towards Neo Horizon. A single guard of the house remained behind, in case any late arrivals came along that needed to be directed to their final destination.

In the blink of an eye, anyone watching the mass of men would be in for a surprise. In a straight, a few of them would wobble and nearly fall over as Retsu shunshined past them in a huff, appearing at Gai's knees in a position nearing one a slave would give to his master.

"I am here. If the army is ready I will march with it when we move out."

He stood up and nodded torward Gai's new companion, and outstretched his hand for a handshake, his face a mask of cold business. He didn't know exactly how long it would be before he had to kill this person.

"I am Retsu-Hi."

He turned around in time to hear Gai give his speech to the men. Time to move out.

This was no longer Ezek…it was one of her three personas, and possibly the scariest of all three. Virtue as she was called know emerged when Ezek felt a strong negative Emotion…Anger and Passion being the two key ones. She frowned at the castle before her and made her way inside. “Pretty quick for a genin. It helps that he also has a head start. I’ll catch his butt…” The woman muttered to herself as she approached the Castle. ’Entering shouldn’t be too much of an issue for me.’ The woman charged towards the walls of this castle, forming Hand seals along the way. This was one of the rare times that this Tai spec actually decided to use such. ” Hiru Bansho: Boka no Jutsu [Leech All Creation: Attack Prevention Technique]” The jounin said to herself, slapping a hand to the wall of the castle.

Traveling this way might have been slower, but if Restu hi was going to hang around too long Virtue was definitely going to find him. Thanks to her jutsu she was virtually undetected by the guards. ’Whoever owns this place has a bunch of Shinobi on a leash it seems. What level they are is impossible to say, It’d be a waste of time to confront any of them anyways.’ Through the walls the woman traveled until she finally closed in on the location where Retsu hi was. She emerged into the room where he was when he Shunshined away before she could even reveal her presence. ’Bloody..!’ The woman pressed her lips together with a scowl on her face. ’What the crap is he thinking?’

There was a guard though. The jounin approached the Guard with full force. Using her jounin level speed, she vanished and appeared behind the guard with her sword dangerously in hand. ”A care for whither activities performed in this place I have not a care for, yet if you hold your tongue concerning where Restu-Hi Lune has gone, I assure you that you shall not only lose that, but much more.” Ezek told the guard. Hopefully he would be smart enough to talk. Even if this guard was a jounin in level, surely a jounin would want to avoid a fight if it was at all possible.

Raphael
27-10-2009, 04:23
I can't say I know the kid by name, the guard said, sounding quite frazeled as he kept a close eye on the blade his interrogator held to his throat. It was quite clear he wanted to accomodate Ezek, especially since it seemed the cost of doing otherwise would be his life.

What does he look like? Maybe I can point you in the right direction the guard said shakily, sweat forming on his brow. Anything to keep that blade from sinking in. He was loyal to the lord of the manor- Gai Gardener. He wans't loyal to Retsu whoever the hell he was...

Missy
27-10-2009, 04:33
Virtue attempted to remain calm as she answered a simple description based on not only what she had seen of him before he decided to slink off, but also from his village report. ”Young man. Silver-white hair. Face Mask. Wanna be ANBU tattoo. The better part of Five feet tall.” The woman held her tongue as she pondered what else to add. ”I have no desire to interfere with whatever activities the master of this castle bids. I only desire the boy.” The woman said no more, but she kept the blade at the guard’s neck. Her breathing was steady, she had the calm aura of the jounin…

She had the killing intent that proved she was serious.

Ah, the punker! the guard said, Yeah, he went with the big group. I can take you to where they were headed, if you like. He nodded his head gently, careful not to touch his throat to the blade leveled at him.

He wouldn't be able to take her directly to Retsu, but she'd be able to find him easily enough once she was pointed in the right direction.

"Tracking a genin's Shunshin is a neglible task for a one such as I. Knowing which way he has gone only makes the path easier to track." Was Ezek's response to the Guard, "you can remain on whatever duties your master bids of thee." Ezek continued to explained to him. She back away from the guard and put her Weapon into her sheath. If he was going to be cooperative, there was no more need for cooercion.

Yoruko had been just close enough to hear the end of the conversation, and knew that the person with the strange outfit was looking for a certain idiot Yoruko knew and hated. Well, if she's looking for him, I can't imagine it's for a nice reason. Retsu IS an idiot. Oh well. If she kills him, sucks for him. Not my problem though.

Retsu shunshin'd through the gates, shoving down a guard that was in his way. He let loose a snarl, wondering whether he should kill the guard or not. In the end, he decided not to. He probably wasn't in on it. He stomped through the grounds, drawing his dual blade, Death. He split it into two blades, eyes searching for Gai's closest adviser. If anyone knew, it would be him. He knew everything about Gai.

"JARVIS!"

He kept searching, finally finding the old man next to one of the walls. He swung his swords in an arc, throwing on at him. If he was lucky, it would go where it was aimed and stick in the wall. If he wasn't, it would stick into Jarvis. We're talking about Jarvis's luck of course.

"Jarvis! I know that wasn't Gai's body at his funeral! I noticed the lumps! The piercings! Tell me the truth!" He yelled, raising his hand to throw a senbon from his gloves if Jarvis answered wrongly.

Raphael
14-06-2010, 00:32
Jarvis wouldn't flinch as Retsu swung his blades around violently. The Genin would hear a bow tighten behind him, and know there was an arrow leveled at his head. You make another swing at my father, and I'll strike you dead The Elite jounin would say. Should Retsu turn around, he would see Shang in a henge of a generic shinobi, and not his true appearance.

I will admit that was not Gai's body Jarvis said, He asked me to arrange the funeral to allow him to disappear. Unfortunately, he did not tell me where he was disappearing to. I am sorry.

Hantaisha
14-06-2010, 00:41
Retsu merely steadied the sword he had left and switched it over to his right hand. He heard the bow string tense. He was not stupid. "Jarvis. You have clues. If I find out you are hiding something, you will pay." If he lived through this, he planned to keep his word. Gai was the person he had ever become closest to. He tensed his legs.

Using the crap he had learned during his Kinobori training, the thing about to much chakra would blast you off, he applied that principle now. He blasted off the ground toward the attacker behind him. He spun in a whirlwind while in the air, creating a human top, using his sword as the edge. He wouldn't let this asshole intimidate him. Who the hell did he think he was? His mother?

Raphael
14-06-2010, 00:45
Shang's arrow fired up at the ceiling, narrowly missing Retsu. He would drop his bow, Sticking his much faster and stronger arm out to grab Retsu's forearm. Should this succeed, he would slam Retsu face first on the ground, twisting his sword arm behind his back and pinning him down, while using his free hand to put a blade to Retsu's throat.

I know nothing Jarvis would further inform the boy, You need to accept it: Gai is gone. And nobody, including me, knows when or if he will come back. It is clear you were a loyal student. So, honor his name. Learn to be a warrior that would make your master proud. Don't insult him by threatening his closest friends.

His next moment was weird to say the least. He tasted dirt and blood and his mouth, as well as his right arm being twisted behind his back. Painfully. He felt the cut open and blood drip down from the narrow wound on his throat as the blade pressed down.

His anger and rage took hold off him. He didn't know who this was aimed at, whether it was Gai, Jarvis, or whoever was holding him right now. Whoever it was, it made him lose control. His eyes suddenly glazed over with an ice blue color, his skin taking on the appearance of cracked ice. His hair hardened slightly, the moisture around his head freezing slightly. "Ironic words Jarvis, considering what position I'm in right now." His voice took on a slightly colder tone. You could hear the sound of ice cracking as he spoke.

His aesthetic effects from his Hyouton chakra remained as he stood up, slowly calming down. He walked over to the wall and removed his thrown blade from it. He connected his blade back together to form Death and twirled it nonchalantly in his hands. He sealed it in the end after a few revolutions, a small poof being heard. 'Your son better not touch me again, before he stops being your son and becomes deceased."

His eyes narrowed as Jarvis continued to speak, the information being processed. "I'm listening. How?" He wiped the dirt of his shirt and rubbed his collar across his mouth, trying to get the dirt and blood off, manly.

Jarvis would approach the fireplace nearby, pulling back a candlestick that concealed a level. The fireplace would open, revealing a hidden stairwell, which he would lead Retsu and Shang down. This would take them to a hidden basement chamber, which contained 5 colored battle suits.

I cannot think of a better way to sharpen your battle skills. You would be utilizing technology Gai helped to design, and working directly under an organization he helped to form. I think we can finish with you what Gai started.

His feels slowly returned under his control. He turned off the chakra flow that had somehow gotten loose and his aesthetics returned to normal. Battle experience? His memories flicked back to the Star Gardener's he had left back in Neo Horizon. Were they still alive? He shook his head. If they were, they'd be getting a call from his sometime soon.

He walked down the hidden stairs that Jarvis had just uncovered. He saw the suits, getting the feeling he was supposed to pick one right now. With obvious hax, he got into the ice blue suit in less than a second and f lexed a little. Seemed comfortable.

He hid a smirk as Jarvis said 'Not so fast'. He was probably the fastest one in the manor of his rank. He should get one of those rocket powered roller skates sometime soon. Then he'd be rolling in style. Super-skater AT Retsu ninja man!

He shrugged. "Sure, no problem." He took the scroll and read over the details, making sure to ever read the 'fine print'. He cracked his neck with a one-two jerk. "So when do we do this? Now?" He should so be getting some cookies for this.

He nodded primly and made handseals for shunshin, going to the area of woods he spied from the walls of the manor a while ago. He walked about the door, wondering where was the room where he had shunshined into a wall. Twice.
