[NOTE] This is the first post for activating my bloodline; it should be 7 posts in total including this one.

The Frost country: White, cold, awesome, and a great place to explore! Considering Quinn was used to the unrelenting heat of the desert and the yellowy colour of the endless dunes this new place to check out was great! Quinn had crossed the border, legally, about a day and a half ago with the want to explore clearly the driving force of his expedition. He was wearing his typical clothes, in white, with a long warm cloak that really kept the chill out. He also had a pack of camping equipment on his back and, of course, Giant for company. Climbing to a reasonably high plateau was his the last thing he had done and he still wasn’t finished, or at least he though he wasn’t. This particular plateau had a particularly nasty polar bear living there, who was hungry.

As Quinn walked along towards the other side he jumped as he heard a mighty roar and immediately decided that escaping the polar bear that was charging him was more important than crossing the plateau. Quinn turned and ran a moment too late, the bear was close enough to take a swipe at him and he went flying off in the wrong direction. Halfway through the flight he felt something change, there was certainly something new that had happened and he didn’t know what. He landed on his back dazed, all this equipment that he was carrying weighing him down and preventing him from rolling. Giant on the other hand was rung quickly in the same direction as Quinn had flown, yelling something about getting up and running.

Quinn shook his head in an attempt to clear it, was it just him or was it getting warmer? “Probably something to do with being hit by a polar bear” Once the thought had passed through his mind he remembered where he was, he struggled out of the camping pack and stood quickly, Giant was at his side by then and the two of them made a run for it. This plan was quickly destroyed as the bear lumbered towards them at a faster speed than either had expected. The only thing Quinn could think to do was to distract the bear and allow his friend to escape, so he did. “Giant, run back to the other end of the plateau, I’ll take care of the bear and meet you there!” With that he turned towards the bear and flipped through the handseals for the one jutsu he thought would help, Shikyaku no Jutsu.

The typical feeling came over him as the jutsu took hold; he welcomed the change and sprang into action. “Yeah, it is getting warmer isn’t it?” He ran at the bear, not really hoping for much, and attempted to rake it with his claws only to be stopped by the thick fur and be swatted away again. “Owww, that hurt” he landed a few feet away from the beast but this time rolled to save himself. “This bear is starting to annoy me” As Giant took his orders he caught a glimpse of Quinn’s eyes, they no longer had that white rim around the pupil, they were completely gray, just as they had been when he had first met the boy.

The bear roared, apparently it had decided that Quinn was ready for consumption, and sent one massive claw down at the boy. Before it hit Quinn the bear pulled its paw back, sensing a slight change of temperature around the morsel. It looked at Quinn for a moment, giving him enough time to get to his feet and draw his sword, and shook the though off. Quinn had noticed the change in temperature as well; some of the snow around his feet had started to melt slightly, making his footing unsteady. “Well that’s just great; the day warms up just in time to doom me. Lovely!”

Quinn only had a few moments to think before the bear attacked again, this time Quin didn’t escape its massive claw, his right arm was hit and gained a long gash down the side, causing his white shirt to gain a bloody tear. Quinn didn’t scream the pain was too unexpected to cause such a reaction; he did go a nice shade of white. This was not from blood loss as the temperature was freezing the blood and making a reasonable scab already, but rather because of the sudden apparentness of how powerful this wild beast was. Firmly holding his sword in his left hand Quinn slashed at the bears exposed arm cutting through the fur and leaving a slight gash. The bear roared in anger, pulling back into itself at the slight prick of the sword, “Oh come on! I didn’t do that and look what you did to my arm! Stupid bear!” Quinn used the bears moment of anger to his advantage and thrust the sword into the bear’s belly sinking it in as far as he could and attempted to pull it out. Unfortunately the bear took another angry swipe at him and yet gain Quinn flew through the air and landed dazed. “Great, it’s getting warmer, I just lost my sword and the dam bear is going to knock me out if I don’t get away from it!”

Quinn was disarmed of his sword, but not his other weapons. Kunai wouldn’t work in close combat but as a ranged weapon... As he rose Quinn pulled the kunai from his legs and attached explosive tags to them, the bear was made of harder stuff than your average person but all he really needed to do was distract the beast. He sent the tagged weapons flying, one at the beasts head and another in the snow to its left, the first kunai hit the bear and buried itself into its head, but the tag didn’t go off even with the jarring impact that occurred. The second was successful as well and the torrent of snow that was sent the bear’s way would give Quinn enough time to retreat.

And retreat he did, making his way towards the cliff that lined the far side of the plateau. “This isn’t working, snow isn’t my style and I have no way to overcome it! I need training...” Quinn kept his movement quick and continued his retreat, with some of the snow melting around him faster than it should. The bear on the other hand was shaking it’s head, obviously trying to get the weapon stuck there out, though for some reason it seemed to have forgotten the sword stuck in its stomach. “This is good; with it distracted I can run” At that very moment the bear shook loose the tagged kunai which exploded like the last off to one side, and covering the bear with snow again. Enraged it ran after the boy.

Quinn had run perilously close to the cliff, but as far as he could tell this was his best bet. If he could just get there he could try climbing down where the bear couldn’t get him, he doubted it would work but it was worth the try. Unfortunately the bear was lumbering towards him and all the snow around him as melting in stupidly unpredictably ways, which slowed him down too much. He was very close to the cliff when the bear caught up, well rammed him in the back anyway. Quinn fell to his knees and received a paw to the head, almost knocking him out, for a few moments Quinn couldn’t think straight, so he turned and punched the bear in the chest. For once luck was with him and the bear was off balance already and ended up falling to its back.

Quinn only had moments before the bear started to really attack; he had backed up to the cliff a lot more and was perilously close. This really took away his ability to move and dodge the claws and teeth. He took a claw to the chest and gained a bloody tooth impression on his leg, he was sure that he was about to be ripped apart by the bear when Giant attacked. The bear dropped him and was distracted by this new attack for long enough for Quinn to crawl away, though in his blood loss haze he moved towards the cliff. The heat of his blood and the heat around him where conspiring to make him bleed to death and Quinn was smart enough to take his blood pill to give him a bit more time. Meanwhile Giant and the bear where exchanging blows and Giant was knocked towards the bleeding boy, landing unconscious. Quinn pulled his dog towards him and held him in his arms as he watched what could only be death come towards them.

The bear grabbed Quinn’s feet and dragged the two helpless creatures towards it. Quinn held on to his friend, wondering what exactly he could do. As the bear lifted him he caught a glance of his sword, it was still in the bears stomach and probably his last chance. He dropped Giant as he was lifted and swung towards the exposed hilt, catching it on his first try. Now as the bear lifted him it started to jerk. The sword was being pulled with Quinn and cutting the beast open. Once he was high enough the bear stopped moving as the blade cut into its heart, and then fell forward, knocking Giant with it as well. Then they were falling, this cliff was quit high and the fall gave him a time to act. He grabbed Giant and moved them through the air so that they were above the bear.

There was a sickening crunch as the bear hit the ground, followed by a slightly less sickening crunch as the boy and dog landed on the corpse. Quinn looked around dazed and confused, somehow they had survived, they had lost their camping equipment and would have to take a massive hike to get it back, but they were alive. He then tried to sit up but found this difficult, the pain was too much, but he knew he needed to tend to his wounds. He took the more powerful of his painkillers and immediately got to work, putting Giant next to him to keep the dog warm. “The snow was only melting around me; I wonder what that means...” It was still getting hotter, but Quinn was too preoccupied to notice.

Quinn was working on himself when he felt that something was very wrong, the heat around him was too high and his head felt like it was about to explode. He held his head tightly and was about to scream when all of a sudden the heat ceased and he blacked out.

The Dream ( http://www.theninja-forum.com/Vbulletin/showpost.php?p=812554&postcount=3)

Quinn was out for about an hour, in that hour Giant had woken up and was making sure that Quinn a warm enough in his unconscious state. Whatever the heat that was once around the boy was, it was gone now and he needed the help. Quinn moved carefully, he had only patched up a few of the wounds and even then they were so bad he was surprised that he had woken up. “It was that dream again, the beginning is so similar to what just happened, could it be true? I don’t want that to ever happen...” Quinn finished patching himself up, using the cream and bandages in his first aid kit, some of the damage was more than he would be able to fix himself so he knew that his only choice was to go to the hospital at Hyouga. His had was undoubtedly broken but the painkiller was keeping that from truly irritating him at the moment. He knew what they needed to do, he would retrieve all his equipment and then, with Giant's help, head out to Hyouga and the hospital within.
